Maybe they can walk small steps to their door and then show how to pick it? Cause most people I think want to learn to pick both door and locks like this

i suggest for ur pen (if u don’t wanna waist time) u take a nail from a nail gun from about 4 cm or more ( diameter max 1mm) and use some clay or so to make something to hold it at the back
